In 26 days I've walked 14 times, each time at least 2 miles and once 6 miles (too much, I didn't walk for several days after). During that time I haven't changed my eating habits much. In fact I was out of town for several days and after a day or two started eating significantly more. Have lost a pound or two during this time.
But last night, I was out to dinner, and ordered carbs and protein, basically, and found I did not want to eat it all. I left half of it on my plate, and was perfectly full. And then, even more astounding and unusual, I came home and worked for several hours before deciding to call it an evening and relax. Now, normally at this point my mind would kick in and I'd eat something. But I have also been trying to practice mindfulness, and some other part of my mind said Wait! You're not hungry! I mulled it over for awhile, but calmly, and finally went to bed without eating anything at all, just drinking a glass of water. Mind 1 said You won't sleep well and will be starving in the morning, but here it is morning, and in fact I'm just back from walking the dogs 2.7 miles and NOW I'm feeling just a bit hungry. Woo hoo! I love this new mindset! Now, to just listen to it more often.
