I'm so excited because my mom is coming to visit me! She rarely visits, and she never stays the night - well, she is staying through Sunday (well, that's the original plan at least - I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much).
I'm halfway through Stage 5 of New Rules of Lifting for Women and I'll be happy when it's over. I am not really a fan. Hopefully I'll like Stage 6 a bit more. I've heard Stage 7 is a killer - it's a lot of high reps with short rests.
I taught Airin how to deadlift yesterday! He was looking for a training plan, so he's starting For Women too (it's really a basic training plan with similar workouts that I see elsewhere for men - I'll be helping him modify it along the way). He got up to 115 lbs and was definitely feeling it last night. I'm happy to say I can still out-deadlift him ... for now.
I would like to figure out my 1 rep max (how much I can lift doing only 1 rep instead of multiple sets of 6 or more) for the deadlift and squat. I got some worksheets, but they may be based on men (men have 1RM's that are a greater distance from regular reps), but if they're right, I can *almost* deadlift my body weight. And my body weight is about 185 lbs.
I bought a desk last week from an antique/refurbishing store downtown. My aunt gave me a chair, because I was having a tough time finding one (it's comfy!), I brought down a lamp, and voila! I have my own work space at home. It's a small office area, but it's in the family room - still in the middle of the bustle of my home, where I like to be (which is weird, since they drive me crazy - but I have to know what's going on). I can look out the patio window and it's a great view of trees and a little rolling hill. And it's close enough to the kitchen!
And the sign says THOU SHALL NOT TAKE SH*T.
