I know I've said it before, but I breathe better when I'm singing. I think it's because I'm not conscious of my breathing, but I still have to breathe in order to sing.
Also, not all songs are good for running. "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)" by Fall Out Boy is a great song for me for running. It has a good tempo, no huge pauses where I would stop singing, and I know all the words.
"Can't Hold Us" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton is also decent, but mostly the beginning - at the end there's a trumpet solo where I kinda lost track of my breathing.
Meanwhile, "I Gotta Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas wasn't a good choice for me.
And "Serenity" by Godsmack is a great cool down & stretching song for me.
But anyway, on to the actual exercise part . . .
My plan for today's treadmill time was 4.5 minutes walking, followed by 1.5 minutes running. Total planned time: 40 minutes (including warm up and cool down)
I had a good first half, but things went downhill. I overdid myself on my third running cycle (went 5.2 instead of my usual 5.0, and I wasn't ready for it), and I couldn't really recover. I managed to make it through one more running cycle at 4.7 after a few extra minutes at 3.5, but I had originally planned to do 5 walk/run cycles, so I am a little disappointed. I ended up doing a total of 35 minutes, which isn't bad, but isn't what I wanted.
Oh well. Now I know to stay at 5.0 for at least another couple of weeks.
Mostly, it was a good treadmill walk/run, and I am happy
