Brown rice

Tonight I checked out my rice cooker!
I used chicken broth for some flavor, not enough flavor!
Very bland. emoticon

I need some help!
I would like to eat rice pretty much everyday as a side dish or with a Stir fry.

I need quick spices I can add to it to be able to eat it alone!

Not too spicy
Love teriyaki

Just something to throw together daily.
Any ideas? I'm new with rice, except with Chinese delivery!

    The only way I can get rice (especially brown) to turn out right is in the rice cooker. After cooking, I put the cooked rice in the refrigerator overnight, which dries it out a bit. That way it's easier to measure into 1/2 cup portions in snack size Ziploc bags. Then, I stack the snack bags into a quart size bag and freeze them. So, any time I need rice, it's already cooked and measured out.

As for seasonings, I love the rice at Indian restaurants - I finally got up the nerve to ask, and they said it was flavored with cumin seeds. So, next time I make a pot of rice, I plan to get some cumin seeds and throw them in with the rice and water. I like cardamom too, so I've been thinking of trying that as well.

    threw out my rice cooker as it maked the rice too soft.
I put 2T butter or oil in a skillet then add garlic, onion green pepper shredded carrot and celery. Then add 1 c rice and 2.5 cups water.
I never salt it but pepper or paprika is nice. emoticon

    I usually eat my brown rice with just a bit of pepper on it and I love it! Yep, not much help, I like bland, lol. I love teriyaki too!

    Read somewhere that they added beef broth, garlic, and seasoned salt. Don't know how that would be for sodium, however. How would fresh rosemary be? It's fantastic on roasted potatoes. Several of the things I saw also just had mushrooms added to it.

    Did you try the recipe with stir fry veggies? I've made a good dressing for rice with grrek yogurt and chinese mustard. Have you tried any rice pudding like things (meaning sweet-- some vanilla yogurt and raisins). You can also try putting rice in Spark Recipes to sort.

Just rambling but hope it helps some.
