I ate so much of this TOTALLY nutritious food tonight. It's full of calcium, protein, healthy fats, and antioxidants...right?
Sure, there's some sugar in it. And okay, the milk was whole milk. Plus that bit of light cream as well. Oh yes, and there were melted semisweet chocolate chips in there too (partial credit on the antioxidants?). But there was cocoa powder! And unsalted peanut butter! And the aforementioned milk!
I may have made some chocolate peanut butter ice cream and then eaten a whole lot of it because it was so good. :) But at least it was mostly whole milk with some light cream, as opposed to being made with all heavy cream like lots of recipes out there! And I used about 75-80% of the amount of sugar it called for! And my peanut butter is made of just peanuts with no salt or sugar added! So...that's not too bad, right? :)
If I'm being honest, I know I ate too much of the ice cream. I could have had more fruits or veggies or something instead. I will maintain, however, that at least I picked a recipe that wasn't tremendously unhealthy, for a homemade ice cream, and had some redeeming nutritional qualities. There's always healthier ways to make treat foods, like finding a recipe for whole milk ice cream instead of heavy cream! Next time, I might even try it part-skim and see what happens.
Anyways, at least I didn't just eat a straight cup of sugar or something!
