Boys home

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

We never did any painting today as it was just too hot. Gabe woke up with a headache so gave him tyleno and put him back to bed. The other three watched cartoons and were really good for me. I don't know what time we finally got out of here. Went and got some pizza for the guys and then on out to their house. Michael was home from work and Shanteal came not long after that. I did go swimming with the boys for a while, but could not wear my boot in the pool so will have to wait before I spend a lot of time in it with them.
Last evening we put 14 eggs in the incubator. The boys marked them and we set up the calendar so we can keep track of the days. The three ought to be here on the days they hatch. Michael already has a brooder set up for them. He still has the last ones I gave them in the house in the brooder.
Had two does kindle last night and out of ten kits there were only 2 alive. I have to check here in a little while to see if they have survived the heat. Will be rebreeding in about three weeks and that should be my last litters before next spring.
It is kind of good to start with a new slate. I am watching it more carefully and I will start to see the reducton of weight in the very near future.
Tomorrow I may process out another one of the chickens. The one i did yesterday was absolutley delicious. I may next year have to raise about fifty in order to have one of my own each week. I will also be doing the rabbits again, but no turkeys and maybe no ducks. If Jeff did not raise so much cain about me processing them out I would already have four or five ducks in the freezer.
Once the weather starts cooling off again I will have to see what I can do fish wise. I have some in the freezer but not a lot.
That is about it for this day
God bless you my spark friends near and far

I just wrote a long comment on this blog and then lost it.arggg! It's really good prod using your own meat. You know exactly where it comes from and it's obviously cheaper. Duck eggs are delicious. Have you ever reared geese? Beautiful meat for Christmas and the fat(which we of course can't eat) is super for roasting potatoes. God bless.

It is a good idea to be able to provide for yourself and be less dependent on stores for your meat. At least you know what you are feeding them and then you. Stay cool today!
