Quick Update 7/17/13

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

Dear Spark friends:
I'm still here, and I'm still thinking of you all. Went on vacation last week and returned last Thursday--had a wonderful vacation, but received some sad news after returning. My mom's oldest brother (only 61) has been battling cancer the last several months, and it has now reached his brain. Five tumors, whole brain radiation, so he can get some relief from the pain, so he can go home. He doesn't want to die in the hospital.
Your prayers are so appreciated for his comfort as well as his loved ones. His mother (my grandmother) is not taking it well, naturally. She has become physically ill from the stress and understandably depressed. Much of my spare time is spent doing what I can to help and be available for my family--as well as much reflection on the value of our family and having meaningful relationships with them. I spend much time praying for comfort, guidance, and strength for all who shoulder this tragedy.
Please take a moment to be thankful for all the blessings/wonderful people in your lives. When things are happy and wonderful, it's too easy to forget to be thankful....and when things are hard--it can be just plain difficult to find thankfulness--but the wonders of life surround us everyday.
Many blessings to my spark "family".

I will pray after I write this for your moms brother. You have a good heart to ask and to help them out.

Today I saw this on the community blog and saw/ heard what you've accomplished. You look so pretty ... you must feel as great as you look. I'm happy your life has these joys to balance thing.Such contrasts. Yes, and when we went through our parents having serious diseases, we saw the world in a whole new light. It makes one recognize and appreciate what they do have. emoticon

Michelle, I will remember to pray for your family today. Your time together is so important. I've been an oncology nurse, and this past year I have lost close family members and friends to cancer, but others have made it through to recovery.

Such sad news is right. He is my age...way too young to die. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
Peace be with you.

Michelle, your family is in my thoughts and prayers. This is a tough time. I hope your grandma finds some strength and peace with all of this. Very understandable that she would be stressed out and depressed. Your mom too. Always thinking of you. Take care of yourself so you can care for the rest of the family.

    emoticon to hear this Michelle.

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers for grace and strength during this extremely difficult time. Also praying for comfort for your Uncle.

You have a wonderful perspective. We must always count our blessings and be grateful for what we have -- and LOVE, friends & family top anything in this world.

Stay strong & love fully!

Oh, Michelle, our family experienced this very same tragedy in 1997 when my 40 year -old brother-in-law suffered from a brain tumor, which was inoperable. He had two little girls under 3. It was devastating to our family, but especially to his parents. We received strength from our faith and the support of family and friends. My prayers are with you and your family.
