Setting distance goals....

On Monday afternoon I had my husband drop me off at a nearby beach with the paddle board. Then he drove to the beach I had set as my destination and set up our dinner picnic!
The distance?
5 km!
The time?
50 minutes!
My legs were tired, my arms were tired, but boy did it feel good!
I stayed close enough to shore that I could always see the bottom and it is so amazing the wildlife that lives in the tidal zone!
I am totally addicted to this new sport (to the point of my watching the water every time I'm near it to see how calm it is!)
I know I'm supposed to stay out of the water for 2 weeks....but I've never been good at listening to instructions! I also only get up to my knees wet when I'm launching from shore....and I've resigned myself to the fate of "if I fall in...I fall in...."
Plus I know I can't ride my bike for awhile because of the surgery I had, nor have I been able to go to any cardio classes! For a woman who has been on a mission concerning getting in shape, I feel like I've had the wind taken out of my sails by all of the "do not" orders....
So I'm enjoying this activity, I'm not out racing, I'm enjoying our local beaches, I'm working my upper body and core...and I'm setting some distance goals!!!

    Congrats! With all the kayakers and paddle boarders on SP, we seriously need some new fitness emoticons!
