Reflection

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

Smooth as glass
fathoms deep
ripples flow
lead to sleep

holding breath
diving in
now's the time
to sink or swim

bubbles rise
held in stone
mirror image
place called home

upside down
chest grows tight
stuck in place
black as night

pull me free
need to breathe
now it seems
i'll never leave

crossing depths
to reach your side
now i want to
run and hide

i failed myself
you stand alone
though i'm here
i've always known

Reaching out
reaching back
reaching for
the air I lack

drowning now
in my own fear
to be so far
and yet so near
