evaluating progress

am not losing weight, or gaining muscle mass, at a rate I'd like. there are a lot of reasons for this, not the least of which is age. but still, progress is being made.

We use weight and measures as an easily recordable way of charting our progress, but this morning took a little naked time in the mirror to do an evaluation.

I'm one of those people who lose weight from the extremities before losing it from the hips and stomach. so as my face, fingers, and arms are getting toned and tightened, my thighs, butt, and gut are still flabby and soft. But now I can suck in that gut and see a difference cause there's muscle under that layer of fat. When I exercise, and feel the fat layer on my thighs and butt jiggling more as it becomes more of a separate layer from the muscle forming underneath. The butt sits higher and firmer in general cause the muscles are getting stronger.

So weight and measures don't tell the whole story. There is still plenty of jiggly wings on my arms, but there is also a decent bicep muscle now when I flex. Am still wearing dresses that are only a step away from being a muumuu, but now can put a belt on and not feel awkward. The sexy underwear I bought at the big girl store still looks pretty awful, so I don't subject myself to that right now, and just accept that I look better without clothes than I do with. and isn't that great!
