Busy. Quick Update

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

On Tuesday, I was tired from my hard core Boxercise workout, and this morning have serious DOMS, so no exercise except walking. I was on my feet longer then I thought, for five straight hours as people wanting beverages (pop or water) was constant. I had to dip my hands into ice cubed water to fish them out, and then to wipe the water off each one. My hands actually feel great as this was one of the treatments they used to give me for my arthritis. Hated it at the time. But my feet are sure sore!! I am also have trouble with them and am trying every sort of cushioning and bandaging trying to figure out a way to ease the hot spots. Not easy to stuff them into shoes! So wish I could tolerate sandals, but I can't walk in them, need ankle support.
I discovered the last night shift has to do inventory and put everything back into the coolers, so extra time. The good news was I managed to catch a bus back in a timely fashion. Great as I loathed the thought of hanging around that bus mall. But fortunately, thanks to the festival there are a lot of people about so it should be safe. Although it was early at 10 pm. We will see how the 10:30 pm (or later depending how long it takes to clean up) goes. I did enjoy the lady I worked with, she was a hard worker and we worked well together. Our tent boss simply sat around and replenished the tanks with ice and drinks when it was running low. A male was given this job of course lol.
Busy today. This morning I have to go to my Dr.'s office for my injection and then to my physiotherapist (can't wait to find out what is wrong with my elbow and if they can do anything about it) then a session of bridge (had a horrible game with my mentor yesterday, almost dead last and she apologized for playing so poorly, but we will try again today) then I have to make a decision whether or not to go to the festival site early. A friend of mine, a bridge player, is performing at 4:30, right after bridge. If I go, it means waiting there for another three hours before my shift starts :( Boredom eating with all those good smells constantly bombarding me? Tired and sore feet from yesterday. Really torn about it. I hate to miss my friend. If I didn't have the foot issues, I would simply spend the time hitting the trails, as they run behind the festival site. But that would be way too much time on my feet without respite :( I don't have any effective pain medication to give me a boost at all. The weather has been gorgeous, just right, sunny and in the 70's. Hard choices :(
Do I cowboy (or girl) up? Tomorrow you will know. I won't be home in time to finish Sparking, so I will miss some points tracking my food, etc.
Have a Wonderful Wednesday all!

I'm betting you'll make the right choice as to whether to go or not, although I know you have a tendency to overdo. Don't overdo! Hope you can support your friend, but find a productive way to use the 3 hours (reading, games - I like Sudoku, stretching if you have a place to do it, a bit of walking??) Sounds like you've been really, really busy with this festival. Really hope your feet get better soon. I just hate sore feet. (Right now, believe it or not, my biggest pain is splitting, bleeding skin on both thumbs. I know you deal with far worse. I greatly admire how you do the most you can. Now, don't overdo.) Take care. Thanks for all your support! -Marsha

Even those without feet problem would have difficulty standing for 5 hrs. That is hard but you sure are dedicated

I am sorry your feet are not pain free. I had a flippant thought that it's too bad you could not put them in the ice! LOL!

Hmmmmm. With no reliable pain meds maybe taking care of those feet is the first priority? I'm betting your friend would understand . . .

Love how you go, go, go... while also keeping the wisdom to not push too hard. Just keep listening to your body and take care! Anyone having to stand for 5 hours in those conditions would feel beat, that's for sure. So take it easy!
Have you really tried all the sandals at the walking shoe store? They do wonders with sandals these days - maybe not the most beautiful looking foot wear choices, but they have some with straps that can be adjusted, give plenty of support and DO have ankle support as well
    Just a thought...

Linda my feel, especially my right one, swelled so bad when I put my shoes on my feet actually bruised. I cannot wear sandals and there is only one kind of shoe I can wear and it certainly is not dressy. For two days I couldn't wear shoes at all so know how you feel.

Here you are saying that tour foot pain is forcing you to consider dialing back activities a little, and yet I read your blogs to reinforce for myself that pushing through pain and fatigue today will someday maybe give me the energy you have! emoticon You are a real inspiration!
