road trip day 1

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

yesterday was day 1 and we were off to a late start. Left the city at 10 am which in retrospect wasn't too bad. Spent a total of 8 hours "trapped in the minivan" as I am the only driver, (with a 53 yr old bladder, I know TMI) I get to choose how often and where we stop emoticon I'm hoping my techno fingers work and this pics upload

wild rose the provincial flower of Alberta

inside Jasper National Park where we stopped for lunch along the Snaring River

one of the park residents who ate nearby

one of the many streams and rivers we will stop by. Enjoyed a 1/2 k walk and stretch break here

Today is a shorter drive-- 6 hours-- supposed to be sunny and hot.
water bottles are ready, sunscreen is on board and the bug spray is there- the debate in the territory we are entering- which is to be feared most= the bears OR the mosquitos and horse flies.

Lovely pictures, they look like they're from a magazine!!
You are braver than I!!! I don't do bugs well! And bears? Oh mercy forget about it!
And horse flies, those are not considered bugs, those are vampires! I hate those things!
We have a creek and woods behind our house, if I go to the creek to feed the fish and those wicked things are out, I won't stay!!
Have a great time, a safe trip, your light complexion like I am, do not get burned!!
and stay cool!
Big emoticon Beni

Those horse flies are wretched. I've only met one and that was enough!

Great pix! How cool to see the Bighorn! Reminds me of when we went to South Dakota ages ago for a family reunion - saw Pronghorns in the distance, and even a BADGER among the prairie dogs! Shel
