Good morning everyone. Hope your day is off to a great start.
I'm awake. My bug/spider bites are not aching as bad as they have been. I do have a mild sunburn, but it's not overwhelmingly sore. Just a little tender. I am a little on the dehydrated side - likely from too much sun yesterday.
I took yesterday off from running. When I saw how red I was last night, I wasn't sure if I'd be up for running this morning either, so I hadn't planned on it.
Now I'm at the crossroads. All the reasons I didn't prepare myself to wake up and head out running right away are valid and still there, even if to a much lesser extent than I thought. Besides, one more day off won't kill me. I am ahead in my training. It might do my knees some good too to get some extra rest.
There I go. Making excuses to get out of running rather than reasons to go.
Truthfully, putting my shoes on and getting out there and TRYING. That is the least I can do. If I don't I'll likely regret it tomorrow.
I DON'T have to be 100% successful today to have a successful day. It's a sliding scale
100% successful training run
99.5% Tried my best, burned calories, and came home sweaty
Started strong, and tossed in the towel then realized I had more in me
got my shoes on and got out the door and down the street
Didn't even make it to the end of the driveway
0% talked myself out of even trying.
Get it yet? it's all about trying and doing my best today. If I push myself to my best today I've done my best, even if I didn't make it to 100%. It's that simple.
Okay. Guess it's time for me to log off and go get my shoes on. Shoot for that 100%. I hope you all shoot for your own personal 100% today. As long as you try, you will not regret it.
