It all finally clicked!

How many times have I tried to do weight loss? Here is a secret since I was 16 this is probably 8th attempt. I was down to 199lb at one at 16. My other lowest is 214. Currently I weigh 238lb. I am only 1 pound away from losing 20lbs. My goal was to do that by mid-August. Today is July 17th. I am giving myself until my 21st birthday next Tuesday to lose that final pound. My next goal is 10lb by September 1st or the start of fall semester. I am trying to decide on my big goal leading up to Christmas. I was thinking trying to be at or under 200lb.
Something has just clicked this time. I am sticking to my running program. I think signing up and paying for the race is really helping! August 24th I want to run a 5k in under 40 minutes. After that my next big planned race is thanksgiving. The run for the diamonds in my hometown is a huge 9mile running event. In past years former Olympic runners have come to participate. MY goal will be to run most of that (the first three miles is up the hills of Pennsylvania) and do it in 2.25 hours.
The other thing that is really clicking is healthy eating this time. I am tracking my food and making choices. Instead of getting fried chicken at work I get sushi or a salad. I get 6in hoagies instead of footlongs. I stay away from fast food. It has been almost a month since I went through a drive thru. I went to the mall yesterday and didn't stop at auntie anne's or cinnabon. I did my shopping then had a 6in blt avacado from subway with water and garden chips. I was still well in my calories.
The mall was an experience yesterday. For years I had shyed away from trying on. I only got lose fitting shirts and I knew what pants fit me. Yesterday I went to a ton of stores and tried a ton of stuff on for my birthday. I ended up with a nice tight but sleek black dress, two body con skirts and an armful of shirts. I also had to come to terms that the tag may say it is an 18 and it doesn't fit, but that 18 wouldn't fit people 15lbs skinnier then me. Some places just cut their clothes small. I had trouble with that when an xl or 16/18 doesn't fit. I know I shouldn't be a size on a tag but that is hard sometime. But yesterday. I over came it. I walked away calm and understanding it ran small. It wasn't me.
6 days till my 21st. Trying to think of what I want first, any suggestions or of places in Atlantic City, NJ to go?

Much Love
Katie

signing up for a race is definitely what keeps me motivated doing couch to 5k! this is my second time trying - last time i got to around week 5/6. i ran one race, but then was unable to afford the one i had planned after it, and i just lost all desire to run. im running one in october this time around - gave myself plenty of time to finish the program before the race. i start week 8 tomorrow!! having a concrete goal (especially one that i've already spent money towards achieving!) just makes me feel so much guiltier for slacking off.
