Woke up at 5:30 this morning, knowing that we needed to get moving and get our walk in early. It was already in the mid seventies, no breeze, and heavy, heavy air. We couldn't even see the valley because of the fog. Managed to get 45 minutes in - even though the dog gave up and laid down to wait on us. The last 10 minutes I had my husband take her to the truck and wait for me, just to get her in the air conditioning. I knew that the day would not get any better, air quality wise and wanted to get at least my min. of 45 minutes in.
We went to the store last night after dark - decided that is a great time to go! I bought several cantaloupes and a watermelon, so now I need to get them cut up and packaged in my one cup containers. I started doing that years ago and it is so helpful to have the right amount to grab.
Washed the melons well last night already. Reminds me of telling my sister-in-law who is a nurse (she was saying how important it is to wash our lettuce) and I mentioned that it is just as important to wash the melons. She stopped, looked at me, and said, "I never thought of that, I never have washed our melons!". I reminded her of their own dogs who wander the melon patch and decide to lift a leg over a melon. The look on her face was precious! From then on you better believe she washed ALL the produce!
