Thought and Prayer for Wednesday, July 17, 2013

When we are obedient to God and taking care of our bodies and our minds, we will have more energy to do His will. By taking care of our bodies, He wants us to put good things into them and He wants us not to abuse them. By taking care of our minds, He wants us to put good things into them as well by reading, thinking and watching only things that will help us lift others up rather than tear them down.

Romans 12:1 “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, help us today to remember to take care of our bodies. Show us what things we need to stop doing. Show us what things we need to start doing. Show us what things we need to change and improve with regards to our health. Help us to be more aware of what we are doing to our bodies and remember they belong to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Taking care of our bodies is being obedient to God.

God can help us stay aware of how to take better care of our bodies if we are willing to listen and obey.

What we put in and do to our bodies should be what God wants and not what we want.

Our bodies will grow old and become weary; however, we should be obedient to God and take care of them.

When we don’t take care of our bodies, we aren’t being obedient to God.

Our bodies do not belong to us, but belong to God.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” (NLT)
