Forget what the scale says, yesterday I ran a personal best

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

So I'm back in plateau land. Been losing and gaining the same 2 pounds for over a month. But yesterday I ran my fastest mile ever. Ran it - not ran and walked it. OK... on a treadmill in the a/c. But still ran it. Yay me.

Looking back at my history, I can see that my workouts haven't been as long or intense as they had been a couple of months ago. Speaks to time constraints I'm facing now that I wasn't facing then. My caloric intake has also been a bit higher more recently due to travel and houseguests but still mostly within range. And when I have been outside of range it hasn't been by much. I could do a better job of cutting out processed foods and staying away from the soft serve ice cream at work (I've only succumbed three times).

So I'm thinking through what I can do to get back on the weight loss road. More intense workouts. I've started a streak around doing something active during my lunch break at work every day - either getting to the gym or taking a walk. The campus at work includes a one mile loop. Very handy. Soft serve ice cream in the cafeteria, less so. (I tried to rationalize if I got the baby sized cone and ate it while I walked the 1 mile loop....yeah, just wrong).

I'm open to whatever suggestions anybody wants to make about plateau busting - my food and fitness logs are open if you want to go that far. Meanwhile I'm still celebrating that non-scale victory. Its a big one for me.

I think you are doing a emoticon job! I know you want the emoticon to move and it will. For now, being able to do what you have accomplished on the treadmill is worth marinating in a bit. I would even go as far as saying emoticon and try to out do yourself as a way to get stronger and distract yourself from the emoticon a bit.

That's got to feel great! Kudos on not just keeping going with all that's been going on, but ramping up to the next level!

(I'm still giggling over your "rationalization" --- that's soooo something I would do!)

I can't remember whether you're doing any strength training or not, but it's something that I've always enjoyed. Adding a bit more of it to your schedule might be another way of changing things up.

(Imma grinnin' like a fool here --- such great news to start my day! You should be sooo proud of yourself!)

You're in the same boat as me right now. My weight loss has come to a halt or at least a verrrrrrrrrry slow drop. I'm going to try and up the intensity in my workout--I usually just talk a 3-5mile walk/run so maybe I'll add in something else. I've also been over my calories at least one a week for the last 2 wayy over lol Every weekend I have some kinda of picnic, party, bridal shower...i swear I need to get my bingeing under control at these things! Here's to hoping we see some great numbers soon!!!
