Day 665

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

It was hot and humid today. The dog definitely didn't want to walk due to the heat. The humidity is what got to me during my run. I got to the 1 mile mark, and decided to make it a 1.5 mile day. I was drowning in sweat from a 14 minute run! I did 2 stretching type videos from the videos here on SP. Then this evening I went kayaking for a little over 2 hours.. Oh, and today was the first day of cleaning out my mom's old bedroom, so that was over 90 minutes of heavy cleaning. (The woman is a pack rat, and never throws anything away. There is about 20 years of accumulated junk to deal with, but there are old family photos and antiques mixed with the junk, so I have to go through everything item by item. Not my idea of fun!)

Kayaking was great tonight! It was a good group and we were able to set a good pace, which meant we went farther than usual. I especially liked it because everyone left me alone. I felt like being quiet tonight, and everyone let me. The lake was kind and although we were dealing with a headwind on the return trip, the waves weren't pushy like they can be sometimes on Lake Erie. Tomorrow we are paddling down in Jamestown, and I think I will take Cooper along. It has been several weeks since he has been out in the kayak.

Mom is doing fairly well. She has been out of bed a couple times today using a walker to get to the bathroom on her own. She seems to think she might be coming home on Thursday or Friday, but for some reason I doubt that. She has lost 20 pounds of water weight in 2 days, which makes her more mobile, but she still has quite a ways to go. And my neighbor had her surgery this morning is home recovering now.

So, that was Day 665 of my fitness streak.

You really have a big job with your mom's room, but each time you will continue to see progress.

I hope your mom is continuing to improve. What causes the edema?

I know what it's like cleaning up someone's packrat stuff. It's hard to understand why they would choose to keep it and then so much of it. I think it keeps me from being a packrat, just in case it is hereditary LOL.

emoticon on your streak!

Your Mom sounds like how my uncle was. The basement was filled with discarded old electronics and everything under the sun. Good luck to you salvaging all the valuables.
Well done with the exercise in spite of the weather!

The humidity's been murder here, too. It's in the high 90's so I don't want to do anything outdoors, which is a shame, because I need to keep hiking to get in practice for Colorado in a couple of weeks! Congrats on your streak. I'd love if you blog about what you typically eat. Do you weigh and measure everything? Do you having cravings for the bad stuff still, or does all the exercise allow you to indulge?
