Looking for the lesson so I can get over this hurdle

I need to make and keep me a priority. Taking the lazy way out and self-soothing isn't helping me at all. It's actually quite damaging. I'm not going to wait until I've lost all of my good habits and dreams to learn that lesson.

    Hi Suze,

Do NOT become me. It's too easy to give in and it comes back so damn easily. Use SP as an escape if needed. Pick up a book, not food. Whatever it is, I know you can overcome it (even though it may not be easy) . You are so stinkin' strong.

    Hi Suz,

Not sure what is going on, but you are strong, and with focus and determination, you CAN reach your healthy lifestyle goals.

Definitely, making yourself a priority on your daily 'to-do' list must happen.
Scheduling is one of the most effective tools I have found.

I hope that indeed...."this too shall pass."

    Your focus is right..self soothing is not helping. Making yourself a priority is so
important. I know you can do it! You have developed successful habits and have great strength.

    I think that "taking the easy way out" and "self-soothing" ARE helping you, just not toward the goal you say you want. Any new goal requires forgoing familiar comforts and pleasures ("getting out of your comfort zone" is the modern phrase) but the road to any goal is right through that terrain. If you say you want a college degree, but would rather watch TV than study, you won't get very far. Same with weight loss. Find new and different non-fattening pleasures. It isn't about "keeping yourself a priority", but keeping your GOAL a priority. Eventually the two will merge into one pursuit, but you have to start with the hard stuff. If it were easy no one would be overweight. But we can all do the hard stuff One Day At A Time. Those days do add up.
