My daughter Kayla, 9 years old, had an audition today for a part in a movie.
All we were told was that they were looking for girls...any ethnicity between the ages 8-15 and to dress casual but nice. I'm never sure what to have Kayla wear as I am sure that my definition of casual but nice is probably not the same as everyone Else's. So I dressed her in a green sundress with black strappy sandals...here's a picture of her in our backyard this morning in the outfit.
We went and filled out a form and then Kayla was taken to a room where a photographer took pictures of her from all angles.
They also asked me if I would consider being a background actor as it my give Kayla more options for parts, so I said sure and they took my pictures too. I guess if Kayla gets the job that I will have to be there anyways and might as well be doing something productive and getting paid for it.
I also wonder now how many other parents were approached to do this too or if it was just me...
Only time will tell now whether Kayla is getting a part or not. Thought they gave no timeline so I have no idea when the call backs will be or when the film is shooting so could wait for a while I guess before assuming we did not get chosen.
I did get all excited though when they asked me to get pictures done...guess it is all about being at the right place at the right time...maybe this was it for me...
