Home made chia seed 'gel'

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

A big part of running long runs is the fueling.

I use lots of gels that I buy... But I would really like to decrease the amount of chemicals I put in my body. I saw this recipe for a gel alternative for long runs.

I did change some things... I didn't use the brown rice syrup, but replaced it with honey. I also changed the fruit. I used a lime & cherries. The result is YUMMY!!! (and pretty)

I think I'll carry it on my long run in one of my extra water bottles (the small 6oz side ones) that have a spout. We'll see how it works. emoticon

Thank you for this link. I don't like commercial gels.

Very cool! Back when I was distance running I would eat the jells on my long runs and did wonder a few times if that mystery goo was any good for you- what a great alternative you found! I'll have to remember this for when I get back into it!
