Fourteen Days in a row

I believe it was a post from Spark Coach Nicole that encouraged us who are coming back to exercise to set a goal of going 14 days in a row. I had been doing well exercising but let myself go for a little over two weeks now. I started back to the gym doing cardio today, but i did not have a specific goal in mind. Well that has changed now, I have a simple goal in mind thanks to Spark. Starting today I am going to exercise 14 days in a row, as per Coach Nicole and Spark. This is day 1, which leaves 13 to go. I'm going to define exercise as at least 30 minutes either of cardio, strength training on machines at the gym, videos here on Spark, or a workout with my Wii Biggest Loser game. Now my question is what, or even if, I should give myself when I make my goal. One thing is certain, I'm not going to make food a reward. No, I'm thinking along the lines of buying myself a nice pen for use at work. I'd also consider a book, but more often than not I use the library for my books. Please feel free to leave suggestions for a self reward or perhaps even if a self reward after this goal is a bad idea.

    I can think of a LOT of things for a reward, but I think the reward is just having finished the 14 days and knowing what you've done for yourself. So proud of you!

    thats a great goal...as per a reward, well, i cant say, right now for me, it would be to go for a day away at a store or something, i have son and his g/f in my house and i cant find a minute to get in a living room workout in solitude, so walking is my own reward.

    Way to go Steve...I am proud of you and I will be checking in on your progress! I think actually completing the 14 days in a row will be the reward itself but doing something special for yourself might keep you motivated as well!

I love the idea of rewarding yourself with a gym bag, or exercise aid, FitBit, or even some hand weights, or resistance bands!

    Congratulations. A reward is an excellant idea. Maybe make your reward something that will help in the journey to be a healthier you. Like a pedometer to motivate you or invest in a new pair of really comfortable workout shoes. Or just set a day to do something just for yourself and celebrate the achievement.

    I think a reward is a great idea--it is a good way of patting yourself on the back for a job well done. The goal of exercising 14 days in a row is supposed to get you in the habit of working out--which is a great thing--but it is also an accomplishment in and of itself and it's truly important to recognize those accomplishments along the way. It's also important to find something other than food that makes you feel special, rewarded, and indulged.

What about getting a special body product from a place like Lush? Or, after all of your working out, maybe you'll realize how you could really use an extra set of workout clothes or a new gym bag that will brighten your day? Or a new comfy pair of casual shoes to slip into when your workout is done?

if you listen to music when you exercise, maybe a new CD or music download?

I bought several Jimmy Buffet Live CD/DVD sets. I listen to the CDs at work or while driving, download the music to my MP3, and watch the DVDs when I use the BowFlex or do Pilates at home

    Congrats on setting that goal! I usually reward myself with something I enjoy, that I find relaxing - sometimes it is just time at the beach with my chair and a good book, or taking the time to go see a movie at the theater, or of course a pedicure is always a treat, or a massage. I am sure you will find the perfect reward for yourself.

Now, to reach that goal...... keep working and sparkle bright!
