Gym Rat in the Making

About a month ago now, I finally bit the bullet and joined a gym. I had to take it easy at first because it's been a looooooong time since I've done any serious strength training. But I've worked up to the point I now go at least 3 times a week for strength training.

This week I'm adding an hour of cardio on my off days from strength training. It doesn't matter what as long as I move my body enough to make it sweat for an hour.

Later, I'll start doing an hour of cardio every day whether I do strength training or not. So I'm trying to do my strength training in the morning before work, but I sometimes don't make it and have to do it after work. I'll get better about getting up and out of bed some day soon I hope. Ü

Oh, I'm also trying really hard to stay within my calorie range and track every day BEFORE I eat something.

I will do a weekly weigh-in and measurements.

The math says this will enable me to lose around 2 lbs a week. When I don't have faith in myself, I have faith in my math skills so I'm excited to prove myself right, one good choice, one day, one week at a time.

My son just got his AA from the college in town and he's about to go off to FSU in August. The college is having a Parents' Weekend in October, so I have extra incentive to stay on track, because by the time he graduates in 2 more years with his bachelors degree I want the picture to be of my son and his FIT Mom instead of his FAT Mom in this picture.
