The Reasons I want to lose weight (in categories)

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

This blog is in response to the third assignment of the 5% Challenge. The actually challenge begins this weekend, however, I am participating in the assignments that are leading up to the challenge. This blog is to explain the reasons I wish to lose weight.

The emotional reasons:

+ I don't want to miss anything in my daughter's life. Graduations, driving, marriage, kids, etc.

+ I don't want my husband to have to become a caretaker.

The Health reasons:

+ I want to have more energy and just overall feel better.

+ While it hasn't been diagnosed by a doctor, I am pretty confident that I have plantar factitious (not sure if that is spelling correctly). I would like to reduce my food pain due to being heavy.

+ All four of my grandparents died due to heart issues. If I continue my current life style, I will most likely have the same issues--only at a younger age due to the fast food industry.

The comfort reasons:

+ I would like to be able to tie my shoes without holding my breath or doing acrobatics just to reach them!

+ It would be nice to be able to wear a skirt without my thighs constantly rubbing and chafing. Because of this, if I wear a skirt/dress--I have to wear bike shorts or leggings underneath.

+ The sweating... I sweat horribly due to being susceptible to heat.

The reasons that come from my place of vanity:

+ Running into old acquaintances when you are 100 pounds heavier than the last time you saw them is downright humiliating. It's even worse when it's an ex-boyfriend.

+ I would like to be able to wear high heels for longer than 5 minutes.

+ CLOTHES. I love to shop for clothes, however, plus size clothing manufacturers are just downright cruel when they produce their clothing. I don't wish to look 80 nor do I want to dress Gothic with "distressed" everything.

So...........there are my reasons. I'm sure there are many others that I haven't remembered, however, I'm sure you get the idea.

I could have written almost this exact same thing a year and a half ago...though I'm grateful that I haven't had to deal with the foot issue.

Mine would add in -

Emotional: don't want my husband and kids to be embarassed of me (though they NEVER even hinted to it, I just felt that way.)

Health: add diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. to family history and wanting to be on the planet as long as I can to be here for both of my boys, but especially the youngest, so his care doesn't fall to his older brother.

Comfort: You TOTALLY cracked me up with you clothes point. I've never liked shopping for clothes because of all the reasons you mentioned, but am learning to like it. Can we please add that plus sized clothing is not only 80 year old looking, gothic, distressed...but also BEDAZZLED! I remember walking out of a store one day and not being able to find one thing that didn't have rivets, glitter, or rhinestones! UGH!

Thanks for sharing this blog. It's given me an opportunity for some self reflection - and caused me pause to think about how far I've come, which means a lot as I've been in a bit of a funk the last couple days. Thanks for lifting my spirits!

YOU are so going to do this! Wishing you much success!!!!!!

plantar factitious - I had a very bad case and bought $20 shoe inserts at the Walmart Pharmacy. Within 2 weeks I had a huge improvement and within a month stopped using them, I was cured. My problem is probably weight, but last summer I was wearing flip flops and walking on a gravel path.

Tying shoe lace is a killer but even 10 pounds lost makes a difference.

These are great reason and could have been written by so many of us.
Good luck on the new 5% !

Two things really helped my plantars.
1. marble exercise as I dry my hair each morning.
(simply move marble with toes while you do hair, makeup, brush teeth, etc. ) Switch feet often.
2. Brooks running shoes (ariel I think)

I have many of the same reasons motivating me so I get it! We can do this!!! We owe it to ourselves and our families (and I want to WANT to go shopping again!!!!). emoticon

You have some amazing reasons for wanting to lose weight. emoticon emoticon A few of your reasons I can remember when I was that person (wearing biking shorts under my skirt for one). You are worth it. Set your goals and stay focused and you will be able to achieve them.

My quote for today is by Thomas Edison:

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.”

I thought since one of my big things to keep me going is to NEVER GIVE UP, this quote was very fitting.

Have a fabulous day! emoticon emoticon

I can relate to so many of these, from wanting overall health, to being able to wear cute clothes! I know that it's a struggle (I've been struggling with my weight all my life!) but I know you can reach your goals! Just keep pushing!
