Well, I stressed about going on vacation for 10 days....how would I stay on track? I've been doing so well, can I still do that if I'm out of the safety zone of my routine? The answer was YES! A couple days into my vacation it dawned on me that it would be really nice to just enjoy myself and my family. The highlight of our vacation was definitely our trip to the Milwaukee County Zoo. If you're ever in Milwaukee, WI I highly recommend it. We have a great time every time we go. We decided to really go for it this year. We fed the giraffes (super cool), we pet sting rays, the kids rode ponies, and I went on the ropes course and zip-lined (loved it!) We spend the entire day there and everyone had a blast.
I ate pretty sensibly for breakfast and lunch and some dinners were healthy and some were splurges. I didn't get as much exercise in as I had hoped, but we were still active with all the things we were doing. Thankfully when I got home, the scale was the same as when I left. I don't know what word to use exactly to describe the sense of accomplishment I feel because of letting go of the reins a little, but not completely losing control. And now that I'm back home, I've gotten right back into my workouts and eating healthy. Feels really good!
