confession....i ate a bagel this morning. i snuck protein and veggies onto it, so maybe it's not horrrrrrible...but it was a 500 calorie breakfast!

which got me thinking...i used to always order TWO bagels (obviously pretending that one of them wasn't for me)...and im talking fully loaded - like one of them would have cream cheese, and the other would be some sort of bagel sandwich. that is over 1000 cals just for breakfast!!!! and i would never be full from that, so i would eat an unhealthy lunch and dinner. oh, did i mention, i would do this on an ALMOST DAILY BASIS!!?

i crushed that craving today (what can i say, they are the best hangover food of all time, and homegirl went a little too hard last night haha) and i am not at allllll tempted to repeat it anytime soon.

    Being aware is crazy eh? I bet when you did that before you didn't even think about how many calories were in them!

As long as you do your best to eat a little lighter the rest of your day I say no harm done!!

    I love bagels! I used to have a toasted one every day for breakfast with butter and jam. I don't want to give them up, so I keep a few whole-grain bagels in my freezer. Sometimes for breakfast I have a half bagel with a tbsp of low fat cream cheese, capers, 1 oz. of smoked salmon, and some red onion. It's actually not a bad breakfast health-wise, comes in under 300 calories, and it satisfies my bagel cravings. Hey, life's too short not to eat bagels!

    There is a fresh bagel place around the corner from my office that I used to frequent---gawd, how I miss their breakfast sammich bagel and their french toast bagel with maple bourbon cream cheese. I'm with you. There's just nothing like one sometimes and I haven't had one in forever.

That said, we've all splurged at one time or another during our journeys for better health. Just gotta maybe work out a little longer or cut some cals for the next couple of days. You took pleasure in the experience, and that's not a bad thing. Don't beat yourself up over a delicious breakfast. I think you have to crush those cravings otherwise you'll start to obsess and possibly binge.
