New plan

It is waaaaaay too hot to even attempt to run, let alone walk outside. Heat index is near 100 for most of the week, so I dusted off my Leslie Sansone "Walk and Jog." I don't know if I ever did this one before, but it was a challenge. It's intervals of walking and jogging (makes sense, now doesn't it?) Anyway, it was tough. I figured it would be a good substitute for walking and jogging outside, besides I'm trying to figure out how to time the intervals. You're supposed to walk for so long and then jog for so long. I don't have a stopwatch and if I keep stopping to check my watch that's just going to distract me. So for this week I'll start my c25k training with Leslie.

Things are going to change at work. My supervisor put in her 2 weeks. Can't say that I blame her, but I will miss her. Speaking of work, I had to fight and fight to get my hours changed. I had my hours changed because basically I wasn't needed as early as I was scheduled to be there. Now things have changed and I really needed my hours switched back because most of my class is there before I get there. The woman who had the earlier hours was so mad when I suggested we switch back, but today it became official that I get the hours. It only makes sense because my kids are there at that time, I have seniority, and I need to be able to see my parents in order to do my job. Another step toward no longer being thought of as a pushover.

Tonight I had to master the grill. My husband keeps saying I'm better at grilling than he is. Well, what does he expect? I do the cooking and read cookbooks for fun. Plus, he doesn't like to do any more than he has too. That's ok. I could do everything except start the grill, and that is no longer the case. I took awhile, but I did it! The hardest part was getting the propane canister to fit. Charcoal I could probably handle, but gas is not my friend.

Anyway, the stress is better after learning that standing up for myself did some good today.

If you have a smartphone, I'm sure there's an app that can be used to set timers to go off at intervals. You might be able to get a simple stopwatch for cheap, or see if your cell phone has an easy-to-use stopwatch (I have a flip pohne and it has a stopwatch - it's pretty standard on most phones, just have to find it and learn to use it).

I think you could do with finding a way to disappear at cooking time and tell your husband to learn to use the grill. He wanted to think of himself as the grillmaster, and he can't be the grillmaster if he never uses the grill. You could also tell other people that you're the grillmaster and when they ask about your husband say that he gave you the job.

I love walking with Leslie, and for you a wise choice considering the outside temp!

It is good to stand up for yourself. It can be hard though
