Life is full of challenges! First of all, I am currently participating in 2 healthy living challenges. I'm doing a 3% maintenance challenge here on Spark (I think for 7 weeks) and DH's company has a 8 week health challenge that started today.
Both are pretty simple - the 3% maintenance challenge is to maintain within 3%+/- of a "center" or "goal" weight. DH's work health challenge is basically just eating right, exercising, stress relief & "Me" time. You get daily points and at the end of the challenge, the people with the most "points" get entered for a drawing for prizes (or something to that effect).
I'm happy to report that I'll definitely get plenty of points for the healthy eating. I might be "challenged" with the exercise, stress relief & me time. But I guess that's the point of a good challenge.
The biggest challenge for me is time (and motivation)! Last week (for instance), I only ran on Monday. As previously mentioned (a lot), we've had quite a bit of rain in North Georgia, which causes the grass to grow! On Monday, DH, DD#1&2 and I all worked on cutting the grass (2 riding mowers, 1 push mower and a weed eater! - guess who got one of the riding mowers?!), even with all 4 of us, it still took about 2 hours. We started right when I got home from work because afternoon storms were forecasted (after raining the entire weekend).
DH and I were going to run inside @ the gym after cutting grass, but it hadn't started raining, so we hit the greenway trail. It was a pretty decent temperature, but so humid. We ran/walked about 3 miles and were drenched! We finished just in time before the storm started!
I hate to say, but that was my last day of exercise last week! Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday after work I spent about 2 hours+ each day with DD#1 practicing her "driving skills" so she can take her road test and hopefully get her driver's license tomorrow. By the time we finished, it was late or raining (or both). I went to the Braves game on Friday.
I had plenty of opportunities over the weekend, just no motivation! I did spend a lot of time with DD#3 (back from her 2 week trip to San Francisco) and her ducks (pictures below of DD#1 & #3 with ducks).
Hopefully this work challenge will motivate me. DH will be motivated, but our schedules usually don't mesh for us to exercise together. It will help with eating healthy since he does most of the grocery shopping, so he'll be sure to get plenty of healthy stuff and skip some of the junk (and his BOGO deals).
DD#2's schedule is going to be crazy the next 3 weeks before school starts with basketball & volleyball. She probably won't want to do any additional exercise since she'll be at the school gym from about 8:30 am - 2 pm M-F for the next 3 weeks.
So that leaves me to keep myself motivated and get in 30 mins. of exercise a day starting today!
