I'm Losing It!!

Monday, July 15, 2013

Some people might say "Well, we already KNEW that!" It doesn't refer to my mental state, although it might later on...

No, "I'm Losing It" refers to a new blog I will be starting in a week (both on here and for my poor, unfortunate non-Spark friends) that talks about my weight-loss journey.

As some of you know, I currently live with my Mom for the free rent until I can get some bills paid off and afford a place of my own. She is heading on vacation on the 24th, accompanying my sister and her 3 kids in their van driving back to Philadelphia to visit my Mom's side of the family. On the way they'll stop and see Gettysburg, Baltimore and other places in between. The trip sounds appealing, but I don't have any vacation time at the moment and as my Mom said, "I'm sure traveling with 3 kids in a van will be quite entertaining!" She's thinking taking a cruise with me sometime would be fun...I agree! Better start saving!

So, while Mom's gone for 10 days, I'm going to get a good start on "Losing It"! A friend of mine recommended Advocare's 10-Day Cleanse, so I'm going to do that for my breakfast and lunches. The trick is going to be dinner. I've felt lousy health-wise lately and I was reading a study about giving up wheat products. I've talked to several people who have done that and have heard good things about it. It's going to be ultra-challenging for me because I've basically been a fast food addict over the years. Not quite as bad now, but the nights that my activities have me on the road, it'll be tough! That means cooking more and bringing my dinner with me instead of swinging by Burger King, McDonald's, Spangles, etc. I know those places offer salads, but trying to drive and eat a burger is challenging enough. Trying to drive and eat a salad would be nearly impossible!

I will post my beginning weight and measurements on here next Tuesday so everyone can see my starting point. (And maybe a photo) I figure if I can sticck with blogging daily, it'll keep me accountable. I will have a few things already in place:

1. Buying my FitBit One this weekend. That will get me moving more, especially since I'll be able to see my progress throughout the day.

2. I already take a Fitness Hula Hooping class 2 nights a week. The Fitness Center in my hometown now offers a Saturday morning Zumba class at 9:00 on Saturday. I plan on adding that into my routine as well.

Things I need to do to prepare:

1. Drink more water!

2. Get more sleep!

3. Quit eating candy!

Hopefully I'll be able to stick with this plan. I've started MANY plans and have had some success but I've lacked the ability to follow through! My motivation this time isn't based on what a man or anyone else might's based on my health and well-being. (And the fact I want to be able to raid my Mom's closet! emoticon)

Have a Marvelous Monday, all! It's a Sweet Adelines night! emoticon emoticon

I had to laugh at that last line - my DD just lost about 20 pounds and was VERY happy to come over and help me clean out my closet! It was a win/win - my closet is more organized than its EVER been and she scored some clothes she loves! (That's her with me in my profile pic!)

Here's the thing - you mentioned you've started many plans but didn't always follow through. In my experience the more 'experience' you've had the more likely you will be to stick with it. I FINALLY got down to 155/160 (bounced in that range for 3 years!) about 5 years ago. But it was only after joining SP (then the BLC challenge) that I FINALLY got those last 10 pounds off!

Having team support here makes ALL the difference! I've made myself accountable to my SparkFriends and while I still bounce up some (usually on vacation!) I also take it back off! As of this morning I was just one pound over my goal weight - our weigh in is tomorrow and I'm crossing my fingers that the scale will either hold at that or go lower tomorrow. This is extra exciting because we were gone on vacation for 8 days, getting home last Wednesday. Accountability makes a LOT of difference to me!!

Best of luck with your new plan!! emoticon

I, too, start things and then never keep, with it, I also need to drink more water, stop the junk foods, such as chips, and (off and on candy) I don't have a lot to lose, but, need to get back on track!!

That is a good plan and a goal that your mom might want to share with you too.

Wow you have a lot of obtainable goals set forth.

You are a motivation to me.

I have began thing's and not followed through as well. Being a widow raising 2 daughters on my own is one main struggle for me.
