Someone commented on a recent blog post of mine and said "Something is always getting in my way.....and it's usually me."
That is so true for me as well. Something I've come to realize is that when I allow myself to become distracted from the small goals that I have set for myself, then I lose focus on the end goal. For instance, if I am not vigilant about tracking all my food, I let myself believe that I didn't eat as much as I may have and I take my focus off the reason for these smaller goals. For me that reason is to build upon the success of each small goal to drive me toward the end goal of a "healthy, active lifestyle where I am comfortable in my body".
I'm not tracking food for the fun of it. It can be tedious and time consuming. I am doing it because it serves as a reminder to stay within my daily calorie recommendation for weight loss. Tracking my exercise minutes and calories burned shows me all that I am accomplishing through moving my body. The same for all the other small goals that I have set for myself and continue to set for myself as the weeks go by.
I didn't start this journey to finish in the middle. Not this time. I have to keep my focus on the end goal.....and yes, weight loss is a huge part of that goal because it will enable me to live out my end goal to the fullest. But in the end, it goes way beyond a number on the scale or the size of my clothing. It goes to the sense of personal accomplishment that I am capable of exercising self-control and discipline to live out the small, medium and large goals that I am setting for myself.
