So I officially have a cold

Monday, July 15, 2013

Yep, sneezing like crazy. I am not taking anything for it either as I am new to this. I don't know what the "rules" are if you are on autoimmune drugs and prednisone if one can take any over the counter things for cold symptoms. But I am not going to risk it and will just tough it out. I just feel so blessed that this didn't come on while I was on vacation with the grandkids as it really is an energy zapper. So I will just count my blessings.

I will get out and walk the doggies. Right now they are doing well together and I think it might be that they are being exercised daily again so that expends energy and they don't fight. The muzzle worked but now we are attempting to let them be together without it. So far so good. So not sure if Pita will be adopted out to the gardener. I really wasn't that comfortable with that as the gardener told me that one of their other dogs just had 8 puppies. It's so sad that the Mexicans don't neuter their animals and they just keep having puppies. Way too many puppies. I know another Mexican family that also just had a dog have 8 puppies. All of the dog farms and charities that care for the street dogs are filled to capacity. It's so sad. Anyway, I think a solution for us might be to local a place where we can take Pita and Morgan to be bordered while we are away so that whoever watches our house won't have to deal with dog fights. Anyway that is my current thinking.

I will be taking kitty Lancelot to the vet to see if I can get my poor baby boy straightened out. He isn't eating but is still drinking water and peeing a bit. But for a kitty who always was under foot begging for something to eat it's not normal and he has lost a lot of weight. He still manages to purr every time I pet him though.

Hope you all have a terrific day and week.
Sallie

I'm not surprised, Sallie. It's so easy to catch a cold after vacation exposure to include being on a jet. Hope you recover quickly! Those pups can really keep you going, can't they? Gotta love 'em!

You can take vitamin c with them and with will not be affected by it. Just make sure that you take it three times a day and not all at once because your body can only use so much at a time. I take autoimmune drugs too for my lupus

Summer colds --- ugh. To me, they always seem worse in the summer when cuddling up with a mug of chicken soup or hot teas doesn't seem as attractive. Stay hydrated, eat well, and make sure you get enough rest/sleep so your body has what it needs to heal itself. Good luck with the fur babies.

I missed several days of your blog and was trying to catch up. Sorry to hear that you have a cold, but just take care of yourself and get over it. Sorry about the doggies. Maybe they just reacted to the fact that you were not there and each blamed the other. I know they all have different personalities and react different to certain situations. Hopefully it will work out. Let us know about Lancelot after his trip tot he vet. Hopefully he did not get into something he should not. We had one eat a lizzard that really made him sick. We were lucky because other's have died when eating them. Thank goodness this was just a baby lizzard and we were able to get him help

Sorry you came down with a cold but happy it wasn't on your trip. I always get sick when I fly, think it's the bad air on planes.

Can you eat chicken soup? It always makes me feel better and they report it does help.
I have been having 30 to 45 minute sneezing attacks because of allergies. It really makes all my breathing muscles tight and I have to get a massage every week to try and stay stable. Hope you are better soon.

You have your fur baby plate full! Poor kitty! HOpe he's all right and glad that the exercise at least seems to help in the fur babies getting along better! Bording might be a good alternative for them if you go away. I would just say make sure they're up on they're vaccinations, including for kennel cough!

A cold needs to run its course. If you take something for it it will take a week, if not 7 days :))
Can you drink? A glass of cognac or brandy at night does the trick for me..

I remember an old episode of the Mary Tyler More Show. She said that a cold was three days coming, three days here and three days going. She then added that that was if you just let it alone and allowed it to run its course. If you treated the cold with all of the available drugs and antibiotics, it would be gone in nine days!
