Overcoming Fears for a Successful Journey

Monday, July 15, 2013

THANK YOU to you all for the support and encouragement. A special thank you goes out to TRAVELGRRL for reminding me to strategize... sometimes all we see are barriers, when we should be looking for solutions. Like the one she offered of getting off the Thruway. (A duh) I should have thought of that. Being hyper focused on getting to my destination and my issues, paralyzed me. TRAVELGRRL's idea was the key that opened the door, eased my stress and helped me overcome my fear. I enjoyed the journey and had no problems.

What a great lesson that I can apply to everyday life. Instead of looking at barriers, brainstorm possible solutions. Sure it is easier to see options for others, I do that all the time. But finding options for myself, being so emotionally invested, clouds my thinking.

The weekend was a bit short on exercise(other than the little bit of chasing and lifting my granddaughter), Mindful selecting and eating was the rule.

I need to be more open. As for now I am energized and ready to travel new paths on my healthy lifestyle journey.

On a side note: My 15 month old granddaughter is now running. In two weeks we will find out if she is having a brother or a sister. My middle son learned that she isn't a baby anymore. He was only a little unruly on the trip, overall not bad behavior, but still can use some improvement.

What a big girl she is already!! I am happy for you - that you and son had a successful trip and visit. I agree with you; it is much easier to help others find solutions. When we are overwhelmed by stumbling blocks in our own paths it is a great help to enlist family and friends. Sometimes we just need cheerleaders; people telling us we can do it. emoticon

Thanks for the Shoutout! Agree with you and everyone else that it's always easier to problem solve for others than for ourselves. You've certainly been the source of many "aha" and "DUH!" moments for me, too!

Glad the trip was uneventful. Your granddaughter is a doll, and how exciting to have a new life on the way!

"Overcoming fear" is such a huge part of this journey -- the fear of failure AND the fear of success. Our Monday fitness instructor always has a word for the week, and then posts inspirational quotes on Facebook that echo the word. This week, the word is BELIEVE.

Believe in yourself.
Believe you are strong.
Believe you have power.
Believe you have all the resources you need to achieve your goals.

Great reminders here-it is easier to "see the way clear" for others. It is so easy to get caught up in why we can't do something instead of figuring out how we might "make it happen". Best to you!

Great job! I can also see solutions for others but not myself so I know your plight!
