I got my dress!
I was a ball full of nerves on Friday. I get that way when I am going clothes shopping with others. Mainly because I am still not the size I want to be and it is embarrassing if clothes don't fit. We went out to David's Bridal with the bride (my sister), my mom, my daughter, and my other sister and niece. I had a few ideas of dresses that I was looking for but had no idea what my size would be and that scared me. I didn't know if they would even have anything for me to try on. I know.... I am silly but those were my feelings.
We got there and started looking through the racks. I immediately went for the higher sizes just to make sure I could get into them. Well a few of the dresses were way too big which made me feel pretty good. You never know the sizes for bridal gowns because sometimes they run smaller than other clothes at department stores. I ended up trying on a handful of dresses and found this one which I was fairly happy with.
I had our sales associate write it down for me but I was not buying this dress tonight. I liked it, but I didn't LOVE it. I wanted to look at other options. Well before we were getting ready to be done, I browsed through the racks one last time. Again finding a few more options that I wanted to try on quick. I am glad I did that because I found my dress!
I tried it on and was immediately in love with it. I loved the way it fit and it felt so comfy. It also had some very elegant details and I especially loved it when our rep. told me that after the wedding I could shorten it up and have a perfect little black dress to wear again. I was sold!
I feel very pretty in this dress and even a little, dare I say it.... sexy! Since it fit pretty good I was able to take it home that night. I may need a few alterations here and there (especially once I lose a little more weight... fingers crossed) and hemming it up for sure since I was stepping on the fabric. But I have my dress which is a huge load off my back!
We also ordered my daughters dress. She is in the wedding party as well being the junior bridesmaid. She tried on many dresses too looking much older that made me sad.
But here is her dress... it will be in black to match the rest of the bridesmaids....
She looked adorable and I can't wait to see it all complete with her hair put up and everything. In my opinion, she is turning into a beautiful young lady!
After finding dresses we went out for a little bite to eat and some drinks to celebrate!
The girls joined in and got some kiddie cocktails!
Saturday was a busy day for us. We had a baseball tournament that was delayed 4 different times due to rain and flooding. We were finally able to get the game in at 2:00. Since we had the rain delays, I was able to get the house cleaning done and grocery shopping before driving out the hour drive to the field. After the game hubby and I went on a date before his week long trip. And we also finished packing up his stuff.
Sunday morning started early with my hubby heading up north for the MS 250 bike tram. His brother picked him up at 6:00 AM and they were off.
They are both riding in memory of their dad and if you can see in the picture, my BIL is wearing a shirt with his dad's picture on it. My FIL rode in the bike tram for over 20 years. He finally had to take a year off after finding out he had leukemia. He was majorly bummed but still went to the start to explain to his tram friends why he wouldn't be there and turn in some raised money. In 2012 he was determined to ride again. He signed up after having his bone marrow transplant and was saying that he was going to be riding. Well infections hit him hard and he was never able to ride. He passed away on November 16, 2012. My hubby and his brothers are now determined to carry on his tradition. They used to ride with him when they were teenagers and young adults. I have a feeling this week will be very emotional for them but also spiritual because I know their dad is with them.
I will be riding this next year with them for sure. I couldn't this year because of the time off from work.
So I am a single parent for the week. It will be busy but I will make it through. In trying to stay busy while hubbers is away I took the kiddos out to Valleyfair for some rides and water park time. The pool was very refreshing yesterday with this Minnesota heat!
Now onto a new week........ Happy Monday Spark Friends!
