SUPPORTING THE ECONOMY
Sunday, July 14, 2013
Well we were at the market today and were fairly busy. We try to support our fellow market vendors. I rather support a person than a corporation.....We did our part this weekend. A local farmer sat up with fresh veggies and fruits from hi farm. He has blackberries (expensive but delicious) fresh corn, tomatoes, peaches....net on to the pickle lady. She makes all kind of pickles This weekend, spicy dills, and then we stopped by the local honey dealer. He and his wife have over 500 hives and it is local. There is a lady that makes some wonderful jams and jellies. I got jalapino blueberry that is gret for glazing pork chops and chicken when cooking.
We got fresh fish from the fellow that gets it off the boats when they come into dock. I am happy purchasing from individuals as I know they are using the money to support themselves and their families,,,not going to pay over paid CEOs These people are all motivated to make a good life for themselves. I love talking with them and they will talk about their lives. These are the people tht do not just it and wait on someone else to o it they do it. The lady that makes the jams and jellies strted doing this as she is a widow and her only income is Social Security and it was really tight for her She as made these ll her life and found that she can subsidise her income with these.
When we were on the way home Hubby committed on our purchases. I remarked well we spent this much and had we gone to the grocery we would have spent 4 times that amount, plus we would not have made friends with them.
