I've been going to Planet Fitness 3-4 times a week for the past three weeks. It's been going really well -- I enjoy the 30-minute circuit and I'm hopeful that it'll prove to be a good introduction to strength training. There are still the normal gym woes that I hate -- people not cleaning the equipment after they've used it, not going in order on the circuit, staring... But in general, it's been a pleasant experience due to variety of equipment, availability/hours, and proximity to the house.
The frustrating part is that I've not lost any weight. I like to think it's because I've introduced strength training into my lifestyle -- that is something I've NEVER done because I was always intimidated. I also started at kind of a weird time as far as gauging success goes... I knew I wouldn't see any results in the first few weeks, but at this point, I think there should be some sort of change. The timing issue is that I'm at the specific point in my cycle where I retain more water than usual. So even if there might be results, they'll be hanging out in my bloaty body for the next few weeks...
Hopefully there will be a change in the next few weeks. I'm bouncing around 158-160 at the moment.
In other news, I tried some new ice creams. One is the Skinny Cow Snickerdoodle ice cream sandwich. DELICIOUS. It's "slimited edition," so I'm pretty sure I'll be going store-to-store and buying them out. It's a cinnamon ice cream with oatmeal sandwich cookies. So good.
I also tried the Arctic Zone chocolate ice cream, primarily because it was 150 calories for a pint. But there' s a reason it's so few calories for a pint -- gross! It was terrible and I will not be purchasing again.
