Three weeks ago I got an e-mail from my Son telling me that he had injured his hand playing basketball and that it hurt a lot. He went to the Emergency Room and was told that it was a "boxer's fracture" (making me wonder if it truly happened as he said). He called from work early Monday morning and said that he was going to see an orthopedic hand surgeon. He scheduled the surgery for later that week and I took him in for the surgery. DH and I brought him back to the cottage to recuperate since he would be out of work 6-8 weeks. Last week I took him for a post op visit and he decided to move back home permanently. Perhaps it took this accident for him to shift his thinking about living in the rooming house and barely getting by financially. DH and I have 2 part time jobs lined up for him when he is finally able to work and he can live in our home. His attitude is much better and he is appreciative of everything we are doing for him. I am cautiously optimistic about his future at this time.
Our Daughter recently got a job as a waitress at a upscale restaurant near our cottage and she seems to be doing well with her new job. She likes the people she works with and she says that her boss likes how she is working out for him. Unfortunately she got too much sun at a water park and her cold sores have flared so badly that she cannot work until they are healed. She is learning a tough lesson about cold sores and the sun.
This weekend, her boyfriend, his sister and her boyfriend came to the cottage along with their dog. Later today our Son's girlfriend will come for the day. It is interesting to have all those young people around! Currently they are all riding around in the pontoon boat and taking turns wakeboarding, water skiing, tubing and swimming.
