Implementing Positive Changes

Been awhile since I've blogged,so here I am! emoticon

I recently decided that despite all my fears and failures, my binge eating disorder, my fibro, and arthritis I still CAN make positive changes that will lead to a healthie lifestyle. I realized I had long ago given up on my weightloss goals or really any goals pertaining to health. Well I took the first step a week ago or so and decided that I am going to try this again and set a clear cut goal of losing 10lbs by August 29th. I think I can do this. I just need to commit and keep at it no matter what hurdles come my way.

A dear friend of mine who believes in me is sending me a fitbit. I can hardly wait to put my grubby little paws on it! emoticon I may not be able to do all that I once could, but I can track my food (the good, the bad and the ugly) and make a goal of steps per day. I can do my PT exercises too at least 5 days a week. For right now that will have to be put on hold for yet another week because of my sinus sugery tha I am recoverying from, but look out once I am able I will do this! emoticon

So what are the changes I plan:

Summer Goals:

~ Lose 10 lbs by August 29th

~ Drink 8 cups of water each day

~ Limit caffeine to once cup of tea a day and then go to water & Herbal tea only

~ Get 8 hours of sleep each night..practice healthy sleep habits...go to bed and get up same time.

~ Use fit bit~ Track Food/ track exercise & steps

~Use my Emotional Eaters team for support as needed and offer support to others

~ Continue to stay smoke free! NOT ONE PUFF EVER!! emoticon

~ Spend 15-20 minutes with God in Bible study and prayer

~ Be Gentle and Kind to myself

~ Eat at least 2-3 servings of fruits/veggies a day. This will be easier now that my sister is giving me fresh veggies from her awesome garden. She was for sure the one born with a green thumb!


While there are a lot of goals, I will implememnt them a couple at a time and add as I am ready. That way I will not be so overly stressed with the process!

I love my spark teams and spark friends! I know I can count on you for support and you nkow that I will offer supportive hand too.

Let's do this one positive Baby step @ a time. emoticon emoticon

    I admit I was getting pretty concerned until I got to this statement: "While there are a lot of goals, I will implement them a couple at a time and add as I am ready."

I think a lot of folks doom themselves because they try to change everything at once. I have always kept my overall weight goals in mind, but I focus on practicing a healthy new habit, rather than the numbers. And I won't force myself to do something I really don't like--I just look for a different babystep to take.

My one suggestion is to expand on your goal of being kind and gentle with yourself. What will that look and sound like? How will you encourage and support yourself? How will you acknowledge your worth and your progress?

emoticon for being so open about your process. We all benefit when we talk not only about what we do, but what we think and feel and experience on the inside.
