Weigh in report from vacation

Saturday, July 13, 2013

So I left home weighing 106.5 and came back weighing 106.5. Today I weighed in at 105. So talk about cushion pounds! I guess since I am not allowed to eat gluten, dairy, night shade veggies and much sugar, I am having an easy time maintaining the under goal(110) weight. The good news is that I feel good so that is the most important part for me. I will try and eat a bit more today as I don't want to lose anymore weight. Need a cushion just in case I have a flair up. The funny thing too is that so many people kept telling me that I would have to be careful being on prednisone. They said my appetite would go nuts and most people gain weight. Well my appetite is hardy but I am still disciplined to only eat a specific times and not snack. My meals are fairly big though but the calories are within a range that seems to work. I also think that those foods that I had to cut out are ones that normally cause inflammation and therefore weight gain.
Anyway am very happy to still feel great. My DH and I walked both dogs today and kept them apart. It worked out okay.
Our gardener said he would take Pita on Monday but I don't think he was as excited about it as I thought he might be knowing how much he likes Pita. So I am anticipating that he might change his mind. We will see. One day at a time for that.

Morgan's stitches are healing well but she still has to wear the stupid cone on her head. I hate that as she is always banging into me and I get bruised. Oh well, just a couple of more days for that too.

I hope all my sparks buddies are doing well.
Have a terrific day.

I find that staying away from wheat (gluten) makes all the difference for me too.

I missed a lot...had to go back to June 18 to catch up on your blogs (very nice BTW), loved all the photos of your trip and those kids are adorable. Glad your health didn't change (especially being in the crowds of people where something contagious could have happened). I love your fashions and accessories and am jealous, you make it look easy. Just thought I'd mention my favorite photo of yours was the grand daughter dressed as a princess in front of the royal coach curtsying.

So glad you are feeling good. That is absolutely wonderful, Sallie. I just got home myself half hour ago. I may wait until Monday to weigh, but I did pretty good -- probably not as well as you, though. Congrats on really doing a fantastic job on managing your weight! You are inspiring. Stay well!! -Marsha

Interesting that you did not gain weight on Predisone; good point about your diet being antiinflammatory. WTG!

Delighted you were able to enjoy your vacation without flair ups and arrived home safely. Depends on dosage of prednisone and how long you have been on it. Do you notice you are getting what they call a moon face as that is another side effect of the prednisone.

How wonderful that you were able to go on vacation and not have a flare up. Sounds like your diet is doing the trick. Hope you can find a good home for Pita.

Very good news that your weight is more or less stable. The things you are cutting out are also tabu on the Clean diet used to detoxify so I think you have a point there.

HUGS and glad your weight is right on. I HOPE Pita has a new home. I can sense from what you say that your gardener is hesitant too, but as you say . . . one day-at-a-time.

Way to go! That must feel good. I have not seen 105 in a long time. Probably like 5-6 years. Doubt I ever will! I will be happy just getting back down to 115. I am on my way ; )!
You are right. Eating super clean and eating portioned food at meal times is key. Glad you where able to get out for your walk. Good luck with the doggies : )!

Congratulations on being able to keep all those cushion pounds, Sallie! I agree with you on prednisone, or at least it was my experience that as long as I tracked everything I ate while on it, I had no weight gain at all. In fact, I even lost weight (because my caloric intake was such that this occurred). You've done well, and should you have to change your eating during a flare-up, you'll be able to use that cushion. I like the idea (and use it), too!

I am sorry about your gardener and Pita, but sometimes, doggies really grow on a person! So there's that hope; and more often than not, I've seen it happen. I'm so sorry about poor Morgan! I remember seeing our doggies with cones, and it was a sad time for them...

Welcome home! emoticon
