Five years ago I weighed over 200 pounds. I found out there was going to be a 30th High School Class Reunion. That was what motivated me to really start losing weight! If I remember correctly, I was able to lose 25 or 30 pounds before the reunion, which helped a lot with my self-confidence level. It was a good motivator, and then after the reunion I kept working at it and got down as low as 145, or maybe 142.
This weekend is my 35th Class Reunion, and believe it or not, that is what motivated me to get back on track this time, too. Ah well, sometimes even vanity can be somewhat useful! However, after trying for a whole month I hadn't lost a thing. Then I discovered SparkPeople, and this is totally working for me. Last night was part one of my class reunion, and I was able to lose 12 pounds in the past few weeks, and feel pretty good at 158. (To tell the truth, almost everyone was more overweight than I, so I really didn't need to worry about it, but it's good to have something to motivate me to get going!) Now my plan is to get down to whatever ends up feeling right within the normal range for my height and build, and then stay there. So, when my 40th reunion rolls around, I won't have to "go on a diet."
