First day of a heat advisory

Friday, July 12, 2013

High temp of 93 with a heat index of 98. DH is sweating like crazy
and I am going about my business as usual.
DS and fiancÚ headed out just after 12 with the trailer full of
household things. They signed the lease on the apartment
after 3 so they can move in anytime. I am sure the trailer
has been emptied already. They will return tomorrow to
pick up the mattresses, cupboards, bookcase and a few
odds and ends. He seemed almost melancholy just before
they left. I am sure he is thinking of what he is leaving behind.
I want him to be thinking ahead to a bright future but will
give him his space to make peace with leaving his first house.
DH and I spent very little time in the garden. I found one very
large head of broccoli and 3 larger zucchini, plus 5 little ones.
DH baked a chocolate zucchini cake that just came out of the
oven. The larger ones were all shredded and frozen for DD.
She loves her vegetarian casseroles. I know there will be
lots more zucchini before the season is over.
But for now, this day is almost over and I am treating
myself to a small piece of cake. SHHHHHHHHHH! Don't tell
DH LOL! Have a super Saturday and thanks for stopping by.

Awwww, wishing your DS good luck in his first apartment. It is hard. I don't know how old your DS is, but mine left home when he was 18 (don't ask!) Then he enlisted in the Army. I am telling you, he really, really learned to appreciate all he had @ home after basics and stays in close touch as much as possible, which I never dreamed would happen!

He'll adjust, I'm quite sure! HUGS and we'll keep that piece of cake between us! emoticon emoticon

I understand the melancholy. In order to move on there is also something to leave behind. My heart goes out to your son. I am sure that he will come to peace with the change in due time.

Hope that your spouse is hanging in there with the heat advisory. I am definitely aware that the heat seems to have a greater impact on some of us than it does on others. Glad to hear that you are holding up well.

We've had so many excessive heat alerts and advisories, the question is always how bad today.
Love zucchini. Had some out of my best friends garden while I was on vacation - that and squash, cukes and onions. So much better fresh than bought. My garden didn't happen because we got so much rain, until I left on vacation then it quit.
Have a fantastic weekend. Stay cool and pace yourself. Drink plenty of water.

The heat will probably find us by the end of next week, darn it! We're enjoying cloudy 70's today!
Your DS will do fine, I'm sure. He's on cloud 9 right now.
Sounds like you got some yummy things from the garden even tho not tons right now! And did you say "zucchini chocolate cake"????? Could you be so kind as to SPark mail me that recipe? (I am a choco-holic)!! And my neighbor has given me a ton of zucchini that really needs used up before it spoils.
Hope you have a fabulous rest of the day!! (((HUGS)))

Your mention of a heat-advisory made me leave your blog to go check on my own weather forecast and then I forgot to respond here! It's going to warm up next week but no advisory here; find a cool spot, winter will be back before we know it!!

Living in Florida for 10 years, I have learned (the hard way) to heed heat advisories. TONS of water is the main key for me. I also take my umbrella with me since I walk a lot and take buses. Good luck with the move and have a great day today.

I picked my first green beans yesterday. Last year the bunnies got them all, but I outmaneuvered them this year! lol

I enjoyed reading about the produce to date from your garden.

Today we had the first of some lovely cherry tomatoes from one of our pleants. They were so tasty! I would have enjoyed eating a few more; however, that will have to wait until more turn red. emoticon

God bless!
