I am so irritated...but calming down now at my son's night baseball game. Whew!
This morning, on my walk, I was interrupted by a man who is usually doing morning yard work. He is elderly so I stopped to say a few pleasantries. Turns out, I am stupid because I don't know who invented the atomic bomb...he asked me that question after I told him I have my Masters and looking for a job... I told him I could care less who invented the bomb. I told him I am a social worker. Then he told me that all those people should have been euthanized at birth because the can not be productive in society. It went downhill from there...
2nd - 5th irritations
I had a planned, scheduled outing in taking 3 of the 6 clients to the night baseball game from the director. The supervisor was out on temporary leave due to a car accident. She came back today and cancelled my scheduled outing. So, I told her that I will leave an hour early. She said no. I explained to her that after 7 pm meds are passed, there is nothing to do but watch TV. She said no. Then I asked her for the sub list so that I can call for my replacement to work my shift. She said no...that I was not sick. I told her it should not matter if I found replacement. She said that all approvals go through her. So...I called the director who approved that I could leave an hour earlier and called the supervisor stating that I could leave! My only thinking (the social worker in me) is that the supervisor is on weird pain meds that is making her a tad bit b****y.
While I was trying to find a sub with the numbers I did have, I called my former supervisor (love her!) if she had any subs on her list. She couldn't talk at that time but by the time she returned my call, I had it resolved. I told her the story and she thought it was nutty. I also told her about my upcoming job interview since she is my reference. I told her about my difficulty in seeking a job outside the agency and she pointed out that most agencies do not see developmentally delayed individuals as part of the mental health profession...so therefore, I have no experience. Ugh! Now I really need this job!
I get to my son's game late...but it didn't matter...it was in the first inning and the score was 10 - 0 with the other team still at bat! But actually, that is okay, in a way...I just love the atmosphere at a night game! It is now about 12 - 4...in the 3rd inning.
Ok...now all my irritations are out! Whew! Hoping for a better day tomorrow even though I have to go to work an hour early because the night staff has a severe ear ache and wants to go to Urgent Care when they first open...
