Day 38: Shred, Sweat and Shower

Friday, July 12, 2013

Iíve really been a slacker as far as blogging lately. Sorry. Life has been crazy.

I decided on July 2 that I would finally start and complete the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels. Iíve surprised myself that Iíve actually stuck with it, somewhat, even on the weekend!

I started on Level 1 for the first couple days, then decided to go ahead and bump up to Level 2. UmÖthat may have been a mistake. Although the workout is only like 26 minutes all together, I was a sweaty mess after the workout. I mean, sweat streaming down the side of my face and my whole body glistening from sweat kinda sweaty mess. And boy did it feel good to sweat like that. Gross, I know.

Check out this sweaty mess!

Saturday I convinced the Mr. to go for a walk with me. The rain had finally stopped long enough for the sun to shine a little bit and to get outside. It was super humid but it was so nice to be able to get out. Not sure about the rest of you, but here in the southeast it has been like nonstop rain for about 7 days. So this little break in rain was amazing. After our walk, I set into the shred. The Mr. was sitting in his chair ďsupervising.Ē I asked him to join me and he quickly declined. He said that he enjoyed watching the boobs bounce during the cardio warm-up. Men!

Sunday, I had to help my sister set up for the World Changers project that has been taking place this week in my hometown. By the time I got home, it was time to fix dinner and I didnít have the energy to do the shred. I felt really bad about it and got down on myself. But I made up my mind that I would make it up on Monday.

Monday during my lunch break, I went home and done Level 2 of the shred. Then I had to hop in the shower really quick to cool down and rinse off all the sweat so I could go back to work. Monday evening, when I got home from work, I popped the Shred back in and done Level 3 this time. Not a good idea. Haha I definitely need to work my way up to that one. But I felt much better about the fact that I missed Sundayís shred by making it up on Monday.

Tuesday was a shred, sweat and shower during lunch kinda day.

Wednesday, I met a girlfriend at the campus gym where we done a warm-up on the treadmill, then started with 5 mins on the row machine, crunches on a ball, wall squats with a ball, lower abdominal crunches with ball, bridges on a ball (can we say MAJOR hip flexor and butt soreness???) and finished up with 5 minutes on the stationary bicycle. That evening after work, I met a former co-worker in town and we walked a couple miles and ran the steps of the court house (thereís like a gazillion of them). I didnít get the shred in on Wednesday, but figured with the other workouts that I was ok.

Thursday was a shred after work day.

Today, I had a meeting mid-morning and afterwards I went to the gym. I ran on the treadmill, row machine 6 minutes, crunches, triceps extensions, lunges, and wall squats. I am going to do the shred as soon as I get home from work and then the Mr. and I are going on a date.

I feel much better about myself these days and I can see the beginnings of the workouts toning my legs. Itís not a huge difference that Iíve noticed, but it is a small difference and Iíll take it! So for now, I will continue to shred, sweat and shower.

I also tried the 30DS and loved and hated it at the same time - so hard! But I never finished it and started it twice. Maybe I will dig it out again now that we are buying an AC and our apartment will stop feeling like a Jungle :P
Congrats!

Wow! I'm gonna look out my copy of the Shred and try giving it another shot. Vaguely remember trying it once and giving up about 15 minutes in - it's hard!

Huge kudos for the effort you are putting into your fitness regime. You're spurring me on to try and do more.
