Allergic to Work?

Friday, July 12, 2013

I sneeze. A lot. It seems as though two years ago out of the blue I developed terrible allergies. I can't remember the last time I didn't have a stuffy/runny nose. It's an ongoing "joke" that as soon as I come in to work in the morning, co-workers just say "God Bless you for the whole day"....as it is easier than saying bless you 100 times throughout the day. We have also joked that I must, in fact, be allergic to work.

Well, it turns out....I really AM allergic to work! I was off of work for two weeks for surgery, and in that time I only sneezed once. (Thankfully, cuz sneezing after abdominal surgery HURTS!) The more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Around two years ago (notice the timing, eh?) I was transferred from one clinic to another as my main work site. There must be something here that bugs my allergies.

So, I can legitimately say..."I am allergic to work." Ha!

(On a side note, I used to be able to legitimately say I was allergic to exercise. Until I figured out how to clear up my two year case of hives, I would break out TERRIBLY in hives, all over, whenever I'd exercise. Life sure is funny!)

lol!!! I wish I was allergic to paying bills, ha! But seriously allergies have the potential to be life threatening, and I am so glad you are in tune with your body to notice if something is off emoticon

My friend had a air conditioning / air flow system at her work. Not only what you said... but it recirculation the air and everyone passed on illness.

Sometimes there are herbs that help this.

Wow - any way to figure out exactly what it is that you're reacting to like this? Because this can't be healthy! Maybe the cleaning solution they use? air filters need changing? get a new chair?

Hope you can figure it out!

Sorry about your allergies there. I can understand that. I used to sneeze all day at work, too. Now I just sneeze and get a runny nose wherever I am. And I was always told I didn't have any allergies. HA!

I also had abdominal surgery several years back. Amazingly I wasn't in a whole lot of pain until I was getting ready to leave the hospital. Then I sneezed and thought I would die right there. They ended up teaching me real fast how to use the pillow.

Hope you can get over the sneezing at work and are feeling better now.
