My week has been quite difficult to say the least. I have had consistent episodes of low blood sugar and have been frustrated beyond belief at the lack of energy that I had. I feel that I have gained weight due to a lack of exercise and eating way too much. I haven't tracked in days. I should have...I know that I should have.
Yesterday morning was bad- not horrible but not good none the less. However, in the after noon I finally felt like I had a break through. I stopped at taco bell and just ordered a bowl of beans. No carbs. Within 15 minutes I felt an improvement. I needed to stop at the grocery store for my dinner. I picked up a salad from the salad bar and then got a yogurt- picked one with a low amount of sugar-7 grams. Later in the evening I had enough energy to walk on the treadmill for 10 minutes. The only problem was that I felt uncomfortably bloated. I guess it was from all the beans, salad, meats and cheeses. Later I had some chocolate without an insane reaction. Go figure.
I had observed that I felt tired and sluggish after consuming bread. I had thought to cut it out preliminary to see if removing it would help. This seemed like a good plan, however, I woke up at 5am ravenously hungry. I ended up having a sandwich. I didn't have any major reactions.
So, for right now, I am going to go back to tracking- keeping my calories at around 2000. I am going to watch what kind of carbs I consume and how much. Its obvious that carb overloading sets me off. I think that I can have some as long as its a healthy variety and in moderation.
This week has been pretty rough, diet wise, but I have learned some valuable lessons about carbs and the impact that they have on my health. I am going to continue to research and make healthier decisions as I go along.
One big thing that I intend to do this weekend is plan out a menu for next week. I am going to keep it fairly consistent that way I know what my triggers are. I'll get back to exercising too and I'm thinking about how I should focus on strength again. However, Next week is my last week for packing and cleaning, so whatever workouts I do will be short and to the point.
