OBEDIENCE IN PRAYER

Talking to God and having a relationship with Him is the most important thing we can do while we are here on earth. Being obedient to God in prayer requires we diligently talk to Him every day. He desires to hear our prayers and to answer them. Jesus took time to pray. He cried out to God and trusted God to help Him. He knew His prayers would be heard because of His obedience reverence to God.

Hebrews 5:7 “While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we come to You today in prayer. We cry out to You. You are all we need. We have problems and situations that are, at times, overwhelming. We have things in our lives which we don’t know how we are going to get through them. However, we know when we come to You and obey You by praying and talking with You, You will give us peace and rescue us. We are here now, Lord, to pray to You, to obey You and to honor Your name. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer is something we rarely see in public but God still knows our private prayers. No one can take that away. Take time to privately pray to God today.

Obedience to God through prayer is powerful. Prayer can make bad things good and good things even better.

Taking time to pray is letting God know you have faith in Him and that you know He is near.

It isn’t important that others see us pray. Our prayers are not to impress others but to humble ourselves before God.

Jesus was God’s son, yet He still took time to pray.

Luke 5:16 “But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.” (NLT)

This is so true! I take time every day to talk to God, it is so easy! Having been raised Roman Catholic, I thought all prayer had to be formal and ritualistic. What a joy to learn that God listened if I talked to Him as I talk to a friend who is visiting me! God is always there with us, wanting us to talk, and loving us beyond all belief! It is such a joy! emoticon emoticon

There was a time when I chided myself in not a concentrated effort in prayer. Then, I realized, I was continually speaking to God throughout the day and praising Him for things accomplished (like finding things). Realizing this, made me to know that praise, prayer and meditation are so connected that most of us are doing this w/o even realizing it. When a dire need comes by, I seek someone out to pray with. When there is no one, I pray until I believe I have the answer -- whether yes, no, or wait. There are so many facets of prayer, but the one thing we need to realize is just "do it!" "Get her done!"

Have a pleasant, prayerful day. May the assurance of the answers, the directions sought given, and the discovery of new mercies be yours today.
