Lost 3 More Pounds, Down 18 Now

Whew! That was a relief! I went to the clinic today after my 2 hours swim and jumped on that scale with a little fear, but did it anyway. I was so glad to see I have lost another 3 pounds in the last month. Yay! Do a little happy dance of JOY! This makes a total of 18 pounds lost in 81 days.

So it is working, something is working, I guess my relief is because I am doing alot of work and now it is paying off. I mean this is not Biggest Loser, I am not working out 4 hours a days at a grueling pace.

I am swimming and doing water aerobics at an intense pace, FOR ME. I guess it would be wonderful to lose 20 pounds a month, but I am older and slower and just glad I am losing at all! I have a long way to go and that is fine, the scale is moving in the right direction finally. I did not know if I could lose weight again. Being diabetic, inactive, sick, on insulin, overweight, and older, its not so easy to lose weight like in my 20's.

So I am just completely grateful I am doing this now, FOR ME.

It's enough.

    Thanks everybody....... it has been soooooooooooooo long since I have had success losing weight, I am so grateful to finally be losing. I do believe it is because of this food plan and this exercise program which works for me.
I have lost 100+ pounds more than 4 times in my life. As an adult I have weighed as little as 130 and as high as 400 (and stopped weighing). Right now I would be thrilled to lose another 100 pounds, I know I would be bouncing off the walls at that weight.

Slow weight loss is ok I guess, I have the dieters mentality or affliction that makes me want MORE tho. I can let that go. Anyway I have NO choice!

I have this arbitrary goal to lose 50 more by next June for my vacay, that means 47 more. If I make it swell, if not well I am going on my trip anyway, and taking my food plan and exercise with me too. Heck I traveled thru Europe and spent a week in Paris, more than 12 years ago while lose a substantial amount of weight and did not cheat one tiny bit, if I can do that I can go anywhere in the world and stick to this sensible for me plan.

    Happy dance for you!
I think Russell pointed out something important: you're doing better than 99% of people! I know it can be frustratingly slow... but I keep reminding myself that ultimately, weight loss must come to a complete halt (when I reach goal) and that is a good thing, so I better get used to it and NEVER give up! All through the process, it is more important to KEEP it OFF than it is to lose it. Slow and steady wins the race!

    You are losing over a lb a week, which is great. At times, we lose faster, and at other times a bit slower, but it all adds up. Three lbs a month is 36 lbs a year, which is better than 99% of people who are dieting.

Yes, some people lose 3 X as fast, but they usually quit, and gain it back. Weight loss is easy, maintaining it is much harder. By the time you get to maintenance, you will know how to transition to eat what you will for the rest of your life, since Paleo isn't extreme. I have lost 142 lbs in 217.5 weeks, or .65 a week, and 2.6 a month. No one loses 10 lbs a month for 10 months, and then is set for life at a healthy weight. The idea of the dieter who is having it easy is just a myth.

Just keep up with it, and you will hit goal eventually.
