All the times I've lost weight in the past (and there have been many), I was gung-ho in the beginning but as soon as I lost 20 pounds and my clothes started feeling loose I'd revert back to my bad habits!
Well, I've lost 19 pounds and my clothes are loose so right about now I should be driving through a McDonalds for a congratulatory Big Mac. Weird, but I don't want one. For dinner tonight I actually COOKED. If you knew me, you'd know that doesn't happen often. I looked up one of the Spark Recipes ( a spicy shrimp pasta) and adjusted it to serve one (I don't like left overs unless it's pizza), took out a few things to make it lower in calories but then added in....wait for it.....SQUASH AND MUSHROOMS. Not only am I not known to cook, I'm really not known for cooking (let alone eating) vegetables.
While I have been tracking my food and staying within my calorie range (except for maybe one or two days) I haven't been as faithful to my blogging or perusing the site as I did when I first started. I also haven't been exercising. That is the biggie! To get myself as motivated as I was at the beginning of this journey I tried on the dreaded bathing suit. Oooohhhh the HORROR!!! I have a bathing suit in 4 different sizes! I know it was unreasonable but I was disappointed I didn't fit into the smallest size I owned.... or the next one up even. I'm going on vacation in a few weeks and I will be in a bathing suit everyday for 4 days...... in front of people. Did I mention...Oooohhh the HORROR!? After trying on the 4 bathing suits I was trying to figure out how I could lose 30 pounds in less than 3 weeks. Short of cutting off a leg that just isn't going to happen but what can happen is 5 or 10 pounds, especially if I start exercising daily.
In the past I would have gotten discouraged and possibly visited that McDonalds I mentioned earlier but I didn't even think about that this time. THAT alone is progress for me. Instead, I thought about what I still needed to do in order to attain my weight loss/healthy living goals.
1. Blog, blog, blog
2. Visit Sparkpeople.com everyday and read a few articles and blogs.
3. Track my food and stay within my calorie range.
So tonight I did all of the above. I was starting to lose focus a little bit but I've been able to catch myself and get remotivated.
Losing focus???? NOT ME!!!!
