A look at the MRI: Good news/Bad news 7/11/13
Thursday, July 11, 2013
Today my husband went for his follow up visit to the doctor. He has been having trouble with his knee since last winter. We were thinking that the meniscus he tore a few years ago was acting up and he would probably need surgery.
Surprise! The doctor said it was arthritis and showed us the spots on the MRI. He suggested that he get 3 injections of Hyaluronic Acid to help cushion the knee joint. The first one was today and he will get one per week over the next two weeks. He was also fitted with a brace to use when he is doing anything strenuous like walking with me or playing catch with the grandson.
He did not recommend surgery at this time.
However, he warned that this is a temporary fix that will help for a few months or years.
Eventually the arthritis will get worse and a knee replacement may be needed!
To save the day; we stopped for lunch at one of our favorite places.
I know I ate too much but I did find a beautiful nature trail near the restaurant and walked off some of my lunch. My husband sat on a bench by the dam while I walked. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful setting.
The next time I walk that trail my husband should have his brace and he can go with me!
