Adjustment period

Thursday, July 11, 2013

My husband has been stationed in another state for the last year and has finally retired from the Army and moved back home. We both have been working really hard at losing weight and we have been doing great! Now that we are living in the same house again I find myself falling back into old habits. I have been sleeping in and skipping workouts and we have been eating out more than I have in a long time. You would think that we would be able to help each other out seeing as we both did great on our own but we aren't. I have to get back into eating right and working out on a regular basis. It is so hard though. We have had family and friends staying over pretty much every day since he has been back and we will have people here until next week. I am hoping that once we have the house to ourselves we will be able to get into a good routine. Wish me luck!!!

That can be hard to transition back from only having to look after you, to suddenly having a partner involved as well. I agree with Kat... talking to him might be a good idea. Just to make sure there isn't any feeling of guilt for being apart and wanting to make each other happy now that you are back together. Does that make sense? You shouldn't feel bad for taking care of your needs, but together maybe you can find away to each do so.

You're right, you would think that the two of you would be encouraging of each other, but it's so not that easy! I know when many couples first start dating they gain wait from going out and dating and all that fun stuff. While you're not a couple, you're sort of re-establishing things and going out to some fun meals in the process.

Good luck! You can do it! Maybe talk with him and remind him of your own goals, individually and as a couple, and maybe try to get some healthier food goinf for your houseguests.
