Pardon me, but BULL! I get so tired of these weight loss commercials with some star telling me this. They have personal trainers, cooks, or they can pay that exorbitant price for some company to prepare the meals and ship them to their home. Most of us are not that privileged and cannot feed the whole family on what we pay for the program. Our budgets do not allow us that much flexibility.
Besides, this we are all so individual with such different lifestyles. We have allergies, like me, I am diabetic and lactose intolerant. Try fixing food without milk or cheese. Yes I know I can use soy cheese, etc. but even though it works at home, many places you go out to eat do not have such options. Now I do not think that every place should. It is my job to make healthy choices. I do know however that most places will prepare things with or without certain things if you ask. For example, if they serve it on other items they can substitute before preparation.
The next thing to remember is we are all individual beings who are chemical in nature. That being said what foods may help some lose may help others gain. It is important to try things and to learn how they affect your body. Not ALL diets work for every single person.
The most effective diet is one that you go own that most embraces your likes and dislikes. It is the one that works best with your lifestyle. Pick a diet that you DO NOT deny yourself foods. Too strict diets usually end in failure or can only be successful short term. You need to find a diet that provides you with the proper nutrients that you can live your life with happily. If you do not cook, take a beginning cooking class at your local college for fun. Learn the basics. Read up on proper storage. Read all you can on nutrition.
The only way you can do it is, TO DECIDE YOU WILL DO IT. It has nothing to do with will power. You need to arm yourself with education on what your body needs to function properly, with proper weighing and measuring tools for food to assist you in learning proper portions. You need to take your favorite recipes and make them healthier. Use the recipe calculator on site to figure out the total calories. Weigh the dish, divide to portions, store and eat at your leisure as you will have the nutritional information
You need to have healthy proportioned snacks available and on hand for watching TV, going to the movie, in your car, and at work, or even for a family gathering.
You can do this, if YOU choose and if YOU prepare. Prepare your responses for the food pushers. Learn how to say no firmly and in a nice way. Methods that I use are I am allergic, I just ate "can I wrap up a piece for later", or " I am diabetic and really have to count my carbs."
Good luck and good sparking!
